I was at Media Markt (in Weiterstadt) this morning to buy some stuff and not only they have a Apple shop now they even had an iPhone 3G for everyone to play with (black version). I had 5 minutes with the device and I must say I kind of like it. Maybe I really buy one with out contract and sim lock from Belgium.

I have the old iPhone. The quality is apple like: All shiny but if you use it for a while you'll notice that many details are bad (e.g. it's not possible to send contacts via sms or email, rotating the keyboard is in no application available but web browser (I would need it for sms and mail!), ear phone jack is broken on my iPhone (google told me that this is common), sms application is awful slow). But maybe this time everything is fine :-)

I don't care for the mobile phone part, I want to use it for email, web, IM, phone and sms is nice to have.

The Web browser is really cool (apart from two things: it crashes if pages are to large and if you leave a tab and return later to that tab it loads the tab new. For AJAX (RSS readers) and frame sites that results in a completely different page if you return). E-Mail is ok but as I wrote it would be really useful if one could use the large keyboard for mail.

Sorry for the double postig. Can't use my iphone anymore since the phone jack is broken and the phone thinks there's a headphone plugged... cheap chinese... The worst limitaions aren't any better with firmware 2.0 (no keybaord rotation but in Safari, no copy&paste (t-mobile sent the wlan password via sms and I have to write it down and type it in the phone again. stupid), can't send contacts via sms or email).
