SiteStak Features & Benefits

Feature Description/Benefit
Web Server Appliance SiteStak does one thing and it does it well: host web pages. It doesn't weigh the web site down with gadget-ridden hardware or superfluous software. You can install it in a rack or place it on a desktop. It needs just two connections: power and Ethernet. It does not require special environmental conditions or even much space.
Plug 'n' Publish Installation Get your web site online in minutes with none of the general-purpose computer headaches such as hardware configuration, driver loading, O/S tuning, complex network configuration, and web server management.
  • Just plug the SiteStak into AC power and your network, and turn it on
  • SiteStak automatically configures network address information
Standards Compliant SiteStak supports TCP/IP, FTP, HTML, and HTTP. These are all IETF and W3C standards that provide interoperability with virtually every modern browser and content authoring tool.
HTML User Interface The SiteStak is managed remotely with any web browser. There are no file systems to manage, directories to create, drivers to load, and arcane commands to learn. Adding a web site on the SiteStak requires merely typing in a name for the site and clicking on an "add" button. It is just that easy.

ISPs can now have customers on the line while the customer service representative creates a web site. The MIS department can let anyone in the company create an intranet web site thereby encouraging information dissemination throughout the enterprise.

Online Documentation All of the SiteStak documentation is in HTML. It is context-sensitive and contains valuable information for the novice and expert webmasters.

Flexible Virtual Web Sites Virtual web sites on the SiteStak can share an IP address or have dedicated IP addresses. Each web site can have its own vanity name like www.company.com. For really quick web site creation, the SiteStak even supports shared hostnames that makes creating sites for personal pages or intranet sites a breeze. You are no longer dependent on a network administrator to assign a DNS name for your new sites.
Flexible Publishing Protocols SiteStak supports publishing via FTP, HTTP/PUT, and Microsoft FrontPage Server extensions. This flexibility makes it possible to offer a single web server that is content authoring tool independent.
Dynamic Server-Side Content SiteStak isn't just a great static HTML server. It also excels at processing dynamic content which many web sites now require. Whether your dynamic content is authored in Perl, JavaScript, or Microsoft's ActiveX and FrontPage WebBot, it will execute properly on the SiteStak. SiteStak makes a great client of your database or e-commerce server providing a secure, scalable architecture as you roll out new back office services.
Search Engine SiteStak has an embedded search engine that will automatically index all of your content.
Security SiteStak carefully protects access to each web site using standards compliant security mechanisms. Advanced web site containment technology protects web sites from other web sites on the same SiteStak. ISPs who dedicate an entire web server to each customer can dramatically reduce equipment and management costs by consolidating web sites onto SiteStaks.
Log Files SiteStak stores a global log file that you can download for billing and network planning purposes. Each virtual web site's log file can be downloaded by the site owner into a traffic analysis tool to determine who has browsed the site's contents. All of the information needed to perform complex visit analyses is provided in the log files in standard W3C extended log format.
